Job Description:
Responsible for statistical analysis and broad bioinformatics support of large-scale clinical and translational genomic data sets. S/he will develop and implement statistical modeling and bioinformatics methods to interpret biomedical data, generated primarily by microarray, with the goal of identifying novel mucosal targets that will guide the development of HIV prevention and women’s reproductive health products. S/he will also contribute to proposal writing and fundraising for new projects. The position requires a good knowledge of current bioinformatics tools, knowledge of molecular biology and familiarity with existing genomic databases and methods and algorithms for genomic analyses and interpretation.

Responsibilities:

-Design, develop and deploy robust workflows, to support the analysis of high-throughput data

-Perform statistical and bioinformatics analyses of large scale genomic data across multiple research projects

-Perform integration of gene expression data into pathway network analysis

-Aggregate and synthesize results and information to provide clearly interpretable representations of complex data sets; communicate and present analytical findings to technical personnel within the organization and to external collaborators

-Prepare summaries, presentations, manuscript sections, and figures for the visualization and publication of complex data and results.

-Organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects and meet timelines.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Biostatistics or related field is required. One year of field related experience is preferred.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, and employees of the medical school.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
