Job Description:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease and International Health seeks candidates for the position of Bioinformatics Analyst. The position will develop techniques and approaches to applications in mobile genetic elements within bacterial pathogens.

Qualified candidates must have a degree in computational biology, microbial genetics, bioinformatics, computer science or related discipline and at least three years of experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.

1. Experience with WES/WGS variant analysis interpretation.

2. Experience with Illumina, PacBio and Nanopore whole genome sequencing technology.

3. Expertise in programming languages such as Python, Perl, R; And proficient in Unix/Linux OS and shell scripting.

4. Hands-on experience working with isolate based genomic data and exposure to building genomic and bioinformatics pipelines.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Strong database and big data structure design and analysis.

2. Proven ability to clearly articulate complex information.

3. Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.

4. History of effective collaboration as part of a complex team or project.

Required Computer Applications:

1. Python scripting (comfort with PERL and Java also preferred)

2. Familiarity and use of SQL

3. Use of R or equivalent analytics software
