The Bioinformatics Analyst investigates the huge biological datasets produced in Adaptive’s regulated, high-complexity, clinical molecular testing facility. This position will work cross-functionally to provide day-to-day bioinformatics support of laboratory operations. Job Responsibilities:
- Creation of QC/QA metrics to support reagent QC
- Computational analysis and troubleshooting for the production laboratory
- Execution of Adaptive’s production QC processes for qualifying reagents and sequencing instruments, and troubleshooting of results as the need arises
- Support of assay and data tracking and trending related to assay health
- Operational support of software pipeline
- Able to rapidly investigate questions arising in the processing of production data
- Able to develop reusable scripts to address commonly arising issues
- Able to trend data and identify process aberrations through analysis of trending metrics
- Documents software and methods
- Communicates clearly and effectively regarding analysis requirements and results
- Exercises critical thinking and independent scientific and statistical judgment
- Effectively prioritizes and triages work streams
- B.S. in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with scientific programming in Python or similar languages
- Experience in processing and analyzing large Illumina sequencing datasets
- Experience with common data analysis and statistical methods used in genomics and bioinformatics
- Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
- M.S. or Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or a related field
- Experience writing software tools for biological data visualization
- Experience writing software in the context of large team projects, using version control tools such as git
- Experience working in a CLIA- or FDA-regulated laboratory environment
