Bioinformatics Analys tHealogics Medical Affairs USA-FL-Jacksonville Summary:
This is a new role that will support Healogics mission to translate wound data analysis into better care for patients. This individual will possess a deep understanding of advanced statistics as well as knowledge of the mining and manipulation of large data sets in an effort to address significant opportunities in predictive outcome modeling, best practice identification, wound product selection, and a variety of related activities that will advance the impact of specialty wound care and Healogics in today’s health care arena.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Bioinformatics Analyst will perform health services research by conducting detailed statistical analysis of Healogics electronic health record data. This includes database design and management as well as the comprehensive inquiry of wound care outcomes. Additionally, this individual will work extensively with Healogics medical, clinical, and IT teams in project identification, execution and analysis. The qualified candidate should also communicate effectively with corporate executives and others external to Healogics in the areas of statistical methodology, clinical study design and the impact of ‘big data’ to alter care paradigms and healing outcomes.

Qualifications:

1. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• PhD or Masters in statistics or statistical sciences.
• Experienced in data integration, database construction, application development and visualization
• Experience in the applications of statistics to health care analysis; knowledge of wound care would be a plus.

2. KNOWLEDGE
• Strong understanding of advanced statistics
• Understanding of the applications of statistics to health care problems
• Familiar with PC's, basic word processing and spreadsheet functions
• Proven experience in writing reports and business correspondence

3. SKILLS
• Ability to use SAS, SPSS, or Stata for statistical problem solving
• Ability to frame complex or diverse health care questions into SQL queries (ability to use SQL is a plus but is not required), so that relevant variables can be extracted from electronic health records
• Ability to translate complex statistical results into meaningful summaries for publication or communication to non-statisticians
• Use intuition and experience to complement data analysis
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
• Understand business implications of study observations or conclusions
• Complete projects in a timely manner and within budget
• Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills

4. ABILITIES
• Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, quality data or governmental regulations
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to effectively communicate and interact with industry leaders and all levels within the organization, as needed
• Ability to interact with and maintain a respectful, positive and friendly relationship with supervisors, co-workers and internal and external customers
• Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times
• Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Work Environment:

1. Works in well-lighted, well-ventilated area with potential for frequent interruptions and competing conversations
2. Travel to and from client facilities, vendors and meetings
3. May include occasional overnight travel and after-hours activity
