Job Description:
Responsibilities:

Use software and/or databases to gather, store, manipulate, and analyze research data. Design and implement bioinformatics tools and processes. Identify and resolve technical issues and propose upgrades to current software. Work closely with biostatistics department on the production of report deliverables. May be involved in sequence and structural analysis, data mining, or statistical modeling.

Qualifications:

  • The successful applicant should hold a PhD or MSc-level degree in bioinformatics/biostatistics or a related field.
  • Previous experience in genome data analysis of higher eukaryotes is preferred but not required.
The following skills are required:
  • Experience with Python, R, and Bash scripting in a Unix environment.
  • Understanding of end-to-end NGS workflows and/or hands-on expertise of methods and tools for analyzing high-throughput genetic and genomic data: QC, normalization, etc.
  • Experience with common NGS bioinformatic tools (Bowtie, SAMtools, bwa, etc.) and/or major genome database resources.
  • The ability to discuss, design, document and implement solutions for novel biological data processing applications.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
