JOB DESCRIPTION This candidate will conduct NextGen sequencing analysis and various bioinformatics data-mining tasks in the Laboratory of Immunopathogenesis and Bioinformatics. This is in a highly dynamic team environment which supports a diverse array of genomic studies in collaboration with laboratory and clinical investigators from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) at NIH. - Possession of a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in biomedical science/bioinformatics/math/computer related field from an accredited college or university or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree.
- Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. Equivalency.
- In addition to educational requirements, a minimum of six (6)years related experience in a laboratory environment with a strong background in database management and utility programming.
- Hands-on bioinformatics skills in at least one of the following areas: data analysis of NextGen datasets; microarray analysis for mRNA expression, mRNA splicing, CHIP-on-Chip, copy-number, and SNP genotype; Strong background in molecular/cellular biology, immunology and/or virology; Working knowledge of Linux/UNIX/windows and common bioinformatics tools; And knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Perl, Python, Java, C++, etc.
- Must have strong logic in statistical analysis and data mining approaches.
- Hands-on skills of web lab experiments, such as PCR, DNA sequencing, etc.
