The Department of Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (DBCB) at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking highly accomplished candidates for a faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor level. DBCB invites applications from outstanding researchers in bioinformatics or computational biology with a focus on questions of importance in cancer research. Candidates should possess very strong academic credentials and an interest in multidisciplinary collaborative research. Ph.D. or M.D. required. DBCB currently includes 15 faculty members. MD Anderson is strongly committed to growth of DBCB in view of the increasingly important roles of computational and analytic approaches in biomedical science. Areas of active research focus currently include bioinformatics, biostatistics, systems biology, high-performance computing, next-generation sequencing, knowledge engineering, and mathematical modeling. Faculty members participate in didactic and/or supervisory teaching of graduate students. Support personnel include excellent teams of BioAnalysts, Statistical Analysts, Programmers, and Information Technologists. DBCB and its colleagues were recently awarded major funding to form a Genomic Data Analysis Center (GDAC) of The Cancer Genome Atlas project (TCGA). The GDAC is teaming with other top bioinformatics groups around the country to develop a suite of advanced, innovative, systems-oriented resources for biological interpretation of molecular profiling data.
