Job Description:
This is a critical position in a new oncogenomics reserach group. It offers a chance to contribute to major new understanding in the patterns of mutations seen across a collection of over 100,000 tumors to better understand pathways of oncogenesis, to publish the results and see their impact on drug development. This is an ambitious project that will suit someone who wants to tackle a major challenge and make a major mark on cancer biology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Deep exploration of mutation patterns using a variety of statistical, programming and possibly machine learning approaches.

-Collaboration with bench biologists to validate findings.

-Collaborations with other members of the Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Department on informatics issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Master's degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistics; or bachelor's degree in a life science or statistical field with at least three years of experience working in a quantitative biosciences position.

-Strong programming skills in the R/Bioconductor environment, and a robust background in statistics and data management.

-Good understanding of cancer genomics, and working knowledge of cancer biology.

-Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a track record of driving ambitious projects to completion.
