Job Description:
Theravance Biopharma, Inc. is seeking a Summer Intern with broad bioinformatics skills to join the Biology department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Engage biologists to fully understand biological questions and project objectives, typically gene expression and pathway analysis, GWAS, proteomics, or target identification.

-Evaluate relevant in-house or publically available data (gene chip or RNAseq, GEO data sets, Human Protein Atlas, etc.), tools, and approaches to design computational studies.

-Employ web-based and free tools, scripts, and programs to manipulate, analyze or display data, complemented with custom built scripts and tools as required.

-Interpret results and present to Biology department colleagues and incorporate feedback and suggestions into new studies.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, or related field of study (or in progress)

-Previous research experience in bioinformatics working with large data sets and statistics is required

-Must be able to work independently

-Python, Perl, Java, C/C++, and R

-Strong analytical and problem solving skills
