The Data Science group, a growing software development and research team, is seeking a Bioinformatics software developer to support projects related to the annotation and analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. This individual will be charged with software development for a variety of clinical testing scenarios in a high-throughput environment, including tumor/somatic analysis and whole-exome sequencing projects. Work will involve utilizing existing industry-standard genomics tools as well as creating new tools and processes. The selected candidate will work alongside scientists and fellow developers to gather project requirements,implement, test, and validate solutions. - BS or MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 2+ years professional bioinformatics development experience
- Working knowledge of molecular biology and genomics
- Proficiency in at least one major scripting language (Perl, Python, etc) and Linux shell
- Familiarity with processing NGS or other high-throughput genomic data, plus publicly available genomics tools and data repositories, especially those related to tumor genetics
- Experience querying SQL databases
- Prior experience processing tumor/normal somatic data preferred
- Experience using Git version control and project tracking tools
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Demonstrated problem solving and communication skills
