The Judge Group is currently seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer. Outcomes:
- Build a robust, modern, validated, scalable assembly and annotation pipeline.
- Fully automate Sanger sequence analysis for all use cases
- Empower community sequencing with state of the art bioinformatics
- Meet with all users of the technology within 30 days of hire
- Industry and working as a software engineer; completely fluent with both Biologists and Software Engineering
- Assembling genomes and metagenomes
- Building bioinformatics applications with full automation (testing, build/deploy, monitoring)
- Existing bioinformatics/DNA Analysis tools and work flows
- Taking cutting edge research and testing and implementing it in bioinformatics pipelines
- Very comfortable querying databases and able to design them
- Working with AWS best practices
- Strong desire to continue learning, identify new techniques and technologies, and rapidly implement them to keep Indigo at the cutting edge.
- Desire to support machine learning with bioinformatic analyses
- Proven track record delivering software solutions that optimize human work flows
- Has a test centric approach to software development
- Ability to understand needs of customers, especially laboratory with scientists, and experience working directly with stakeholders to implement exactly what the customer needs in the software context
- Demonstrates skill in building a user-friendly interface for scientists
- PhD in Comp Bio or related field + 2-5 years experience (preferred) or master’s degree with extensive experience
- At least 3-5 years’ experience with Python programming
- At least 3-5 years’ experience building on bioinformatics pipelines
