Bioinformatics Engineer IV- Pediatrics

Job Description:

• Assess available algorithms/tools , testing on PROFILE data and comparing the results, in order to identify the most appropriate one(s) for PROFILE
• Work collaboratively with the different functional groups within PROFILE and CCGD to:
• Gather user and technical requirements
• Define functional specifications
• Implement data analysis methods
• Design and implement data and analysis presentation tools
• Integrate all new tools with existing infrastructure to ensure data integrity at all steps
• Train new PROFILE Bioinformatics personnel, as needed, in existing bioinformatics infrastructure, architecture, hardware, algorithms, etc.
• Provide ongoing expertise and guidance to the group as to how to analyze large datasets in a clinical context.

• PhD in computer science, biological or physical science, or a related discipline
• Experience in software development in support of bioinformatics applications
• Proficiency in programming and related web-development tools (e.g., Java/C++ , JavaScript/JQuery)
• Experience with a wide range of existing bioinformatics databases, statistical programming tools and modern data analysis paradigms is preferred.
• Familiarity with biostatistics, molecular biology, and human genetics are desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as are the abilities to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
