Job Description:
Do you have skills in machine learning and programming? Would you like to use data to improve clinical care for cancer patients? Join the exciting Bioinformatics internship program at Genomic Health, the world's leading provider of genomic-based diagnostic tests that seeks to identify optimal treatment for each individual cancer patient.

Responsibilities:

We are looking for an individual to develop algorithms to solve challenging biomedical problems. The intern will have the unique opportunity to utilize expertise in machine learning and computer science to make a difference in patients' fight against cancer.

Qualifications:

-B. S. or Master's in Computer Science, Computational Biology & Bioinformatics, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related technical discipline and superior academic credentials.

-Strong programming skills in Python or R and familiarity with UNIX/Linux environment required.

-Excellent understanding of algorithms, data structures and optimization techniques.

-Machine learning and data mining experience highly desired. Specifically, in the areas of data-driven modeling, pattern recognition, support vector machines, Bayesian/Markov networks, clustering, classification, regression, probability theory, neural networks, dynamic programming.

-Working experience with large volumes of data and exposure to pharmaceutical/medical/clinical data are a plus.
