Job Description:
Bioinformatics Postdoctoral Associate Laboratory of Genome Maintenance at the Rockefeller University (Agata Smogorzewska, PI) is interested in how DNA repair defect stimulates cancer development. Through analysis of germline and somatic variants in patient samples, we aim to understand tumor genetic landscape and how it influences the biology of tumors that develop in Fanconi anemia patients. We are seeking a highly talented, innovative, and motivated computationally oriented postdoctoral scientist to develop and direct the computational analyses of genetic defects in Fanconi anemia germline and tumors from whole-genome, whole-exome and transcriptome sequencing datasets. The postdoctoral scientist will work in close collaboration with the Laboratory of Olivier Elemento, Cancer Systems Biology at Weill Cornell Medical School. Competitive applicants will have a PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, genomics, or similar field, with experience and publications in analysis of next-generation sequencing data including mutational analysis. They will be proficient in relevant programming languages such as Python, Perl, Linux, R/Bioconductor and C++. Familiarity with deep sequencing analysis tools such as Strelka, Mutect, Varscan, BreakDancer, TopHat, STAR, CuffLinks etc is a requirement. Competitive applicants will also have strong communication skills in spoken and written English, with a proven record of working well in team environments. Interested individuals should send a CV and the names of three references to Dr. Smogorzewska (asmogorzewska@rockefeller.edu with a subject line “Bioinformatics postdoc position”). Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. The position is available starting Fall 2014. Disability Accommodations The University provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities who can perform the essential functions for the position.
