Job Description:
Under direct supervision and training, the Bioinformatics Programmer will be working as part of a multidisciplinary group. The individual will utilize various computational methods to analyze single-cell datasets from genomic and proteomic approaches. The candidate will interact closely with other laboratory members in our group and collaborating labs and will be responsible for meticulous handling and analysis of data generated in the laboratory. The candidate will also aid in new and ongoing research projects involving other data types. Required Qualifications: • BA/BS degree in applied mathematics • Practical experience in computational modeling of biological data • Proficiency in programming with Python, Matlab or R • Experience with clinical electronic medical record software, including Epic or similar systems • Prior experience with algorithm development in single-cell analysis • Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities • Strong organizational skills Preferred Qualifications: • Prior experience in writing reports to include results and tentative conclusions from analyses of primary data

MICROBIOLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY : The Department of Microbiology & Immunology is a basic science department within the School of Medicine (SOM) that performs scientific research, training and teaching at Mission Bay and Parnassus Heights. Research in the department focuses on areas related to infectious diseases, immunology, and cancer. There are 18 full-time faculty members in the Department.
