Job Description:
In the laboratory, the Bioinformatics Programmer conducts translational research focusing on the intersection of immunology and oncology. The Bioinformatics Programmer will work closely with Dr. and other members of the lab on multiple research projects, with the objective of identifying novel ways to use innate immunity to cure cancer, and exploring mechanisms of immunotherapy. The position involves establishing pipelines using existing computer algorithms for the analysis of RNA, DNA and TCR sequencing. The position will also involve developing new algorithms and pipelines as needed, commencing with but not limited to single cell RNA and TCR sequencing of immune cells from immunotherapy-treated and standard-of-care cancer patients. The candidate will be expected to make independent and innovative contributions to a variety of experimental analyses that may lead to contributions to scientific publications. Eventually, the candidate will implement end-user needs for everyone in the laboratory to be able to use the algorithms in the pipeline for large scale studies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biological science, computational / programming, or related area and / or equivalent experience / training

• Working knowledge of bioinformatics methods and data structures

• Working knowledge of databases

• Working knowledge of modern biology and applicable field of research

• Interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization

• Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner

• Self-motivated, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of applications programming and web development

• Working project management skills
