Job Description:

Position Summary:   Provides specialized knowledge and support to carry out bioinformatics programming and analysis activities in support of research and product development.   Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understand the novel Eureka Genotyping Solution and develop the bioinformatics portion required for custom genotyping panels in a time, cost and accuracy sensitive manner.  Recognize the client’s perspective.
  • Take an active role in the design and development of bioinformatics tools that are needed internally for R&D and/or for customers in support of the Eureka Genotyping Solution.
  • Work closely with other members of the bioinformatics team and other teams in requirements and software design and architecture for assay design and analysis as well as other bioinformatics pipelines.  Refine and enhance existing solutions.
  • Participate in wet lab assay improvement and development of new panels by performing complete analysis of wet lab generated data.  Based on analysis suggest experiments to the wet lab.
  • Prepare routine reports summarizing experiments performed and the results obtained.
  • Participate in maintaining the safety of the office and laboratory environments and their compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Complies with company quality management systems, policies and procedures
  • Provides mentorship, if applicable
  • Additional duties/responsibilities according to business needs
Participation in the following areas desired, but not required:
  • Participate in generation of RCA, sales collateral, manuals, client requested reports, presentations for various stakeholders and IP materials.
  • Perform risk and profitability assessments and suggest changes to reduce risk and increase profitability.
  • Participate in maximizing efficient use of resources (especially NGS real estate) and monitoring completion of tasks and projects (internal and external).
  • Participate in competitive market analysis and suggest commercial opportunities.

Required Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or equivalent. Preferred Education: PhD   Yrs of related experience: 5-8 years   Competencies: (skills, knowledge, abilities) Interpersonal skills, Results oriented, APL, Life Science Program Project Management, Influencing Licenses/Certificates: N/A Travel Requirements: As necessary Working Conditions:Office
  • Experience working with large biological data sets.
  • Strong skills in statistical analysis, experimental statistical design and analysis.
  • Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
  • Extensive experience with a general scripting language such as Perl or Python, strong experience in Java, C/C++, in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with standard software development best practices: source code control, unit testing, in-code documentation and automated build environments.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to maintain an open dialog.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with genotyping and/ or genomics and / or imputation.
  • Experience with high-performance, parallel and/or cloud computing.
  • Relational database management experience such as with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Web application frameworks and UX design.
  • Able to accommodate client timelines and collaborate remotely
Level of Autonomy and Complexity:
  • Experienced professional with full comprehension of established principles, theories, concepts to resolve an extensive range of issues
  • Demonstrates good judgment in applying appropriate action resolve issues of diverse scope requiring analysis and evaluation of factors
