Bioinformatics Research Scientist As a leader in applying cutting-edge technology to animal breeding, STgen is seeking a motivated Bioinformatician as part of the genetics and genomics research team. In this role, you will be part of the research and development team, managing and analyzing NGS projects. This position will be based at STgen headquarters near College Station, TX. Bioinformatics Research Scientist As a leader in applying cutting-edge technology to animal breeding, STgen is seeking a motivated Bioinformatician as part of the genetics and genomics research team. In this role, you will be part of the research and development team, managing and analyzing NGS projects. This position will be based at STgen headquarters near College Station, TX. Title: Bioinformatics Research Scientist Duties:
- Handling high throughput NGS data
- Data processing, variants calling and variants annotation from WGS
- Designing and optimizing new SNP-chip panels to match the different business needs
- Construct pipelines and workflows for sequence analysis
- Variant calling from Genotyping by Sequencing (GBS) platform
- Timely data uploading to the database
- PhD or Master in Bioinformatics or related field
- Understanding animal breeding and genetics is a bonus
- A thorough understanding of the different sequencing technologies
- Experienced in handling large datasets in Unix environment
- Experienced in the use of high-performance computing systems
- Proficient in one or more programming languages (Python, Perl, R, BASH, etc)
- Good scripting for SQL and using of MS SQL Server suite
- Excellent attention to details and communication skills
