Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptionally talented bioinformatics scientist to join our R&D team. This individual will be responsible for routine analysis using existing tools as well as the development and implementation of novel algorithmic approaches and statistical methodologies. The goal is to deepen our understanding and optimize the performance of complex genomic assays we utilize. Who You Are: The successful candidate should be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the discovery and development of clinically vital diagnostic tests that dramatically improve patient outcome and quality of life. S/he should be a dedicated analyst who loves working with wet lab scientists and statisticians in a fast-moving technical environment. This person’s contribution will focus on the design and implementation of algorithmic approaches and statistical methodologies empowering analysis of complex genomics data sets along with communicating results to audiences with a wide variety of technical expertise. The impact extends from early diagnostic feasibility studies to assay evaluation/optimization/monitoring, marker identification, feature extraction, classifier training and ultimately, to large scale clinical validation studies. Essential Requirements Include:
- A master’s degree in Statistics/ Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field is necessary. Ph.D. will be preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated expertise in the use of R for statistical analysis and visualization is required.
- Ability to extract, merge and analyze data from a wide variety of sources (databases, text files, external sources, etc.)
- Working knowledge of genomics and molecular biology.
- Working knowledge of design of experiments. Demonstrated experience with modern statistical analysis methods such as multivariate linear regression, PCA analysis, mixed effects models, ANOVA, etc.
- Hands on knowledge of analyzing microarray and next generation sequencing data is highly preferred.
- Direct experience with assay optimization, analytical verification, and/or quality control will be a big plus.
- Comfort with the Linux operating system and good software engineering practices including maintaining code under version control
- Great team player to contribute in a collaborative fashion
- Self-motivated, highly disciplined, eager to learn and goal oriented: who are driven to success with minimal supervision
- Ability to synthesize analysis and communicate results in writing. Write statistical analysis plans, design history files and project report. Support publications, external presentations.
