The position requires a strong background in both statistics and algorithms development, in order to be able to define the appropriate statistical model or algorithmic approach for any one of a variety of challenging problems. Our group contributes to the development of new sequencing and array products, with a focus on RNA sequencing and targeted assays. Members of the team work in close collaboration with wet lab scientists to support assay development, including primer design and assay optimization. The team is responsible for defining and creating workflows that enable simplified analysis of customer data, integrating best-in-class community tools as well as developing new methods and algorithms to be deployed both locally and on Illumina’s cloud computing environment. - Strong background in algorithms and software development
- Next Gen sequencing technology, tool usage, and data analysis
- Understanding & usage of biostatistics and bioinformatics algorithms
- Critical problem solving and data analysis
- Proficiency in programming in C, C++, C#, or Java
- Scripting experience with Python, R or Perl
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Masters or PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, physics, or equivalent
- Biology knowledge strongly preferred

- M.Sc. or higher Degree in Bioinformatics
