Job Description:

Provide technical expertise in analysis of high-throughput data associated with the development of a comprehensive bladder cancer diagnostic assay. Work within the Molecular Diagnostics group to develop and maintain automated tools for processing and interpreting experimental data from NGS and additional platforms in support of the internal R&D program.

General Qualifications

Minimum Education And/or Certification
•PhD degree in Bioinformatics or related field; or MS with 3+ years of experience

Required Experience
•Experience in processing of high-volume NGS data and analysis
•Competence with bioinformatics techniques associates with gene expression, microarray and next gen sequencing
•Experience in working with bioinformatics portals/databases such us UCSC Genome Browser, NCBI Entrez, dbSNP
•Experience in cancer research, including a working understanding of computation approaches for cancer genome analysis, is highly desirable
•Working knowledge of Python/Perl or other scripting language

•Ability to present data to a multidisciplinary audience in a clear and cohesive manner
•High energy level, a driving sense of urgency and a “can do” orientation

•Working knowledge of Python/Perl or other scripting language
•Ability to understand and modify existing code, as well as develop new scripts
•Strong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics

Physical Demands/Work Environment Requirements

Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit for extended periods. Keen visual acuity with the ability to recognize colors and patterns. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Must have the ability to lift and maneuver up to 25 pounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS And BASIC DUTIES

· Work with a group of computational and molecular biologists focused on the use of massively parallel sequencing technology for the characterization of genetic alterations present in cancer DNA and protein samples · Develop, maintain and analyze QC metrics to support internal R&D and identify common failure modes · Process, analyze and interpret high volumes of data as part of internal and external scientific studies · Develop automated methods and internal software to support large-scale bioinformatics analysis · Provide statistical support and experimental design to identify candidate biomarkers · Prepare and deliver presentations based on scientific and technical progress/innovations · Work independently and prepare timetables, deliverables, and project schedules · Design data storage architectures and formats to enable ongoing access and re-analysis of sample data over tome

•Ensures adherence to all State and Federal guidelines and regulations including compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations •Performs other duties as required
