Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Scientist is an exciting new opportunity in the flow cytometry department at BioLegend. This role will focus on growth objectives for a new antibody-based single-cell analysis portfolio at BioLegend. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, handling technical support related to NGS data, processing raw NGS data using widely available algorithms, evaluating market competition, working with marketing and product development teams, developing new data analysis algorithms, working with outside experts in the RNA-seq space, and helping to manage a new product line.

  • Work as a member of a team (with both outside and inside entities) to develop algorithms for analysis of NGS data
  • Work with business development and product development teams to evaluate new opportunities in algorithm and/or software development related to RNA-seq NGS applications
  • Evaluate and understand customer needs and learn about the competition and the market potential
  • Work with the product development team to design, develop, and validate new products
  • Work with the marketing team to implement launch plans and marketing strategies, including reviewing data sheets, developing web pages, email blasts, literature, promotions, and leading tradeshow strategies
  • Provide customer support as needed, support the technical service team on product line-specific inquiries, and perform lab demonstrations and related activities as requested by customers

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience:
  • PhD Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Genomic Sciences, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related area
  • 5+ years of experience working with data sets generated by NGS and flow cytometry
  • Ability to effectively search and read primary literature and be knowledgeable with research tools, including website databases and instrumentation
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Python and R.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Occasional exposure to laboratory environment.
