Job Description:
Seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to play an instrumental role in s upporting Engilty's FDA task order providing bioinformatics and statistical analysis on a wide variety of projects across the FDA centers. We seek a candidate that has experience in genomic research and the overall understanding of current tools and key advances taking place in the industry.

He/She will assist researcher/scientist computational biologists and bioinformaticians by providing data analysis support; analyzing next generation sequencing and large scale genomic data. They will also facilitate the development of workflows and apply tools for processing and analyzing large biological data sets.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Review with Scientists mathematical and modeling tools needs to improve their data analysis and computations.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of various technologies to address data needs
  • Translates scientific computing needs and align with technical solutions
  • Provide recommendations to improve overall workflow and handling of data using special purpose analysis tools and visualization packages
  • Develop and support software pipelines for the processing and analysis of next-generation sequence data
  • Provide broad-based programming and database technology support on Linux or UNIX platforms
  • Coordinate new customer platform design, development and installation
  • Provide customer support with proven ability to troubleshoot issues
  • Position requires either an active FDA Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain prior to start

Qualifications:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field and 14 years of work related experience (Master 12 years experience or PhD 9 years experience)
  • Demonstrated success supporting next-generation sequencing data analysis
  • Proven experience deploying tools for genomic data analysis, integration and visualization
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Must be able to work independently with proven critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience providing software demonstrations and training
Desired Qualifications: Experience in supporting FDA, HHS, or NIH is a plus.
