Job Description:
We are currently seeking to fill a position in the Microbial Genomics team with responsibility for the development and optimization of automated cloud-based pipelines for microbial genomics, metagenomics and genome-wide metabolic models to validate candidates for novel therapeutics. The analysis pipelines are based on existing tools and algorithms, but custom solutions where required to address specific project goals will be part of the development goals. The Data Scientist will be responsible statistical analysis of metagenomics datasets to derive actionable outcomes from pre-clinical and clinical trials. In addition, the position is responsible for maintaining curated data resources/databases. We are looking for an exceptional individual contributor who understands team values and are capable of consistent high-quality output in a fast-paced start-up environment. Qualifications: ●Master’s Degree (minimum) or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, Microbial Ecology or a related field. ● Documented experience with publicly available bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and their implementation in cloud-based environments for shotgun metagenomics required. ●Expertise in Bioinformatics programming with R and Python required. ● Proficiency with command line tools in a Linux shell environment required. ● Experience deploying AWS resources preferred. ● Experience in working with databases and data management platforms (ex. SQL/NoSQL) preferred. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ● Ability to organize and present data. ● Detail-oriented individual and rigorous critical thinker. ● Comfortable in a startup company and motivated to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
