Job Description:
Position summary:
The Bioinformatics Scientist is responsible for providing bioinformatics software tools for data analysis and supporting the IT needs of the NxGen MDx laboratory and Grand Rapids office.
Requirements:
Extensive working knowledge in R, Linux, Shell Scripting is required. C # and MySQL knowledge is preferred
Master’s Degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
Applicable work experience may substitute for the Bioinformatics laboratory

Essential Responsibilities:
Collaborates and consults with scientists to analyze problems, recommend technology-based solutions, and design computational strategies
Contributes to the design, development, implementation, and testing of bio-computing tools as part of the genomics. Develops computational tools in biology that use genomic data to generate biological hypotheses. Creates or modifies web-based bioinformatics tools, public domain biological databases and software tools for sequence
Helps manage LIS interface with Pathagility or other LIS
Ensures completion of deliverables
