The bioinformatics group within Illumina's Enterprise Informatics unit develops tools to efficiently transform sequencing data into actionable clinical findings and research insights. We are seeking an exceptional individual to help design and develop novel inference models and algorithmic transformations in the service of improved clinical decision making and health outcomes. Your responsibilities may include:

-Designing statistical and machine-learning models to analyze sequencing data in the context of rare/undiagnosed disease and cancer.

-High performance software/algorithm design and prototyping.

-Analysis of error modes and actionable patterns in large-scale data sets.

-Participation in clinical and population genomics research and methods development communities.

Required Skills & Experience:

-Ph.D. in computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, or related field of study.

-Experience developing novel inference and/or machine-learning models.

-Expertise in algorithms and software development using C++/C#/Java or similar.

-Superior ability to present methods within the scientific community via publication, conference and personal communications.

Preferences:

-Training or research experience in genomics, population genetics or cancer.

-Experience with next-generation sequencing platforms and data.

-Exposure to professional software engineering development practices.
