Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Scientist will work in a team of bioinformaticians and software developers and will be responsible for the development, design and implementation of bioinformatics solutions for next generation sequencing (NGS) based diagnostic tests for infectious diseases. The Bioinformatics Scientist will lead data collection, mining and analysis to support IDbyDNA’s diagnostic analysis pipeline and new product development. The Bioinformatics Scientist will work closely with the research and clinical teams to identify information resources and develop methods for curation of internal/external data. The candidate must be able to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced organization with high expectations on quality of deliverables. RESPONSIBILITIES -Expand and improve IDbyDNA's Taxonomer-based data analysis pipelines -Perform metagenomic analysis on Next Generation Sequencing data sets -Work closely with lab and software development teams to provide analysis reports and perform requested custom analysis REQUIREMENTS -Ph.D. degree in genomics and/or bioinformatics or equivalent with extensive relevant experience -Strong bioinformatics analysis experience including proficiency with scripting languages -Extensive experience with developing genomic reference database and working with large sequence data sets -Experience in working in a Linux/UNIX environment and high performance computing -Knowledge, background, or experience in molecular biology and microbiology Job Type: Full-time
