Job Description:
Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, the leading company in the development of RNAi therapeutics, is seeking a research computational biologist / bioinformatics scientist with a passion for using analytical techniques to solve critical problems related to target discovery and drug development. The right candidate will join a team of cross-disciplinary scientists, programmers and bench scientists and will be responsible for implementing bioinformatics and computational biology analyses. The position requires demonstrable skills in data analysis with techniques including RNA-Seq analysis, pathway analysis, biomarker discovery, and the interpretation of GWAS and PWAS studies. We are particularly interested in candidates who can identify relevant genomic, genetic, and proteomic datasets and employ bioinformatics tools to provide comprehensive answers for biological and clinical questions.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
The quick assessment of data and delivery of clear, statistically rigorous analyses, reports and presentations in support of Alnylam’s research and development groups The integration of disparate data, including human genetics, and analyses to generate hypotheses on novel therapeutic targets The establishment and management of successful collaborations both within Alnylam and with external groups. The use of in silico models of cellular processes to drive target evaluation. Work with an in-house development group to provide web-based computational tools for the Alnylam R&D. The commitment to generate and maintain code at the highest standards
Qualifications:
A PhD in a quantitative discipline (such as computer science, bioinformatics, physics; or in biology with a strong quantitative background). Experience with analysis of real-world datasets, algorithm development and statistics. Experience with patient-centric data, including GWAS, PWAS and eQTL analysis. Proficiency in Python and R Background in genetics and biology is a big plus. Knowledge of RNAi is a plus but is NOT required.
