My client uses ontologies to structure medical, scientific, laboratory and other content in our technology applications. In order to link the right content across disparate data sources, we invest significant energy in scoping disease area concepts and training algorithms to improve the relevance and accuracy of linked content. As we continue to scale our offerings, the importance of doing this well cannot be overstated. Therefore, we are opening a position to lead ontology development, curation and cross-functional implementation. This role, dubbed the Scientific Insights Product Manager, will report to the Head of Product and be responsible for leveraging their deep understanding of medical and scientific content to achieving these goals. You will work with data science, data engineering, product, and customer success teams to model and adjust various disease states across content types with production-quality in mind. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about scientific content and be adjusted to match a range of seniorities. If you are a Scientific Product Manager with experience, please read on! What You Will Be Doing: -Leverage subject matter expertise in medical and scientific ontologies to support definition of diverse disease areas -Build the strategy and support creation of tools that support data curation across sources for company applications -Drive creation, adjustment and implementation of medical ontologies to accelerate deployment at the highest levels of data quality -Provide modeling support for integration of new third-party data sources with company applications. -Contribute to content architecture, ontology development methodology, algorithm testing, and any other company function directly related to the success of our data modeling and reasoning efforts. What You Need for this Position: -Broad knowledge of core scientific disciplines that are relevant to Komodo Health related to medicine and drug development Degree in a directly related field (e.g., biology, bioinformatics, medicine) is required; graduate degree (MS, PhD, MD, PharmD) in a related discipline is preferred Past experience working with medical concepts for clinical practice, pharmaceutical development or academia is required; familiarity with standard biomedical ontologies or terminologies (e.g., MeSH, UMLS) is strongly preferred; experience supporting the life sciences industry in a role requiring subject matter expertise in scientific content is also preferred Basic understanding of statistics to drive analyses around large structured and unstructured data sets; familiarity with basic scripts to manipulate data (e.g., Python, SQL) is preferred Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, is required; demonstrated success in guiding projects to generate business insights and recommendations is preferred Sincere interest in working at an early-stage startup and scaling with the company as we grow What's In It for You: We are willing to offer excellent compensation packages including a base salary between $100k-$120k, Bonus DOE, Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401k matching.
