Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to join our fast-growing, dynamic and collaborative team in La Jolla, CA. The Bioinformatics Scientist will be part of the Computational Biology Group and will work closely with research lab scientists, computational biologists, and software engineers in support of a diverse set of research programs. The successful candidate will develop new software solutions solving genomic data integration and analysis problems within the context of computational pipelines, microservices, and web applications. The Bioinformatics Scientist will be exposed to and expected to contribute to all levels of the software stack.

The Bioinformatics Scientist will be exposed to and expected to contribute to all levels of the software stack.
Requirements
Required Skills: • Strong programming skills in R and Python or Java/C++. • Strong web development skills with HTML, CSS, and Javascript. • Strong general software development experience, including: o Unit testing and Test Driven Development o Object Oriented Design o Continuous Integration and Delivery o Version control (Git, Mercurial, SVN) • Proficiency in working with databases and data management platforms (SQL/NoSQL) • Proficiency developing in Linux/Unix environments. • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Ability to collaborate effectively with research scientists and software engineers to design solutions and get them to production. • Team player, focused individual with a strong work ethic and great attention to detail. Desired Skills: • Familiarity with Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. • Familiarity with data science and visualization tool kits. • Experience with tools for networks (e.g. Cytoscape, Escher). • Experience with biological modeling tools. • Familiarity with common genome browsers (e.g. JBrowse, UCSC, IGV). • Familiarity with metabolic modeling. • Experience with functional programming (e.g. Haskell, Scala, Clojure). • Distributed computing and computational pipelines. • Experience with AWS (or Google Cloud, Rackspace, etc.) • RESTful API design and implementation. • Strong understanding of microservice architectures and SOA. • Experience with Docker. • Experience with Jenkins or other Continuous Integration and Development tools. • Experience in traditional machine learning or deep learning methods. • Experience with R/Shiny apps. Required Experience: • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline (preferred). • At least five years of experience in software development and research.Requeriments :
