Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled bioinformatics scientist to join our team at this growing company now expanding their presence in the U.S. and globally. This teammate will be responsible for developing bioanalytical toolkits for various variant calling and annotations for our precision medicine platforms, as well as working with the principal investigator, research scientist or our collaborators, to analyze complex bioinformatics research. Typical projects include, but are not limited to, all classes of High Throughput Sequence (HTS) data analysis (DNA Seq, mRNA Seq, ChIP Seq, micro RNA Seq, etc.), experimental design consulting, data integration, algorithm development, development of sequence analysis tools (bioinformatics programming), evaluation of analytical tools and technology. You must be team-oriented, collaborative, energetic, self-motivated, entrepreneurial and creative. This Bioinformatics Scientist will be responsible for:

  • Developing customized bioinformatics toolkits for analyzing patient sample NGS data including sequence alignment, variant calling, CNV, fusion and their annotations
  • Assisting with the development and customization of front-end precision medicine platform for hospitals and clinical testing centers
  • Performing and evaluating quality control of genomic data; reviewing run metrics and providing deviation reports when necessary
  • Creating elegant bioinformatics support analysis proposals and providing research project guidance for customers, then carrying out the actual analyses for the proposed projects
  • Working onsite with customers to implement products and services
  • Helping to build databases for oncology, pharmacogenomics and other areas
  • Collaborating closely with marketing and sales teams and executive leadership to provide project updates and course correcting when necessary and help sales team to closing the deals
Required Skills and Experience:
  • PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology with publications or PhD in related fields with a strong experience with high-throughput data analysis and similar publication experience.
  • Strong understanding of cancer biology, genetics, immunology or related fields
  • Comprehensive experience with high-throughput molecular assays, including microarrays, NGS, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, etc. and complex analysis using supporting softwares
  • Strong programming skills with knowledge/understanding of several languages, R, MATLAB, Perl, Python, C, JAVA, JavaScript, PHP, HTML, and databases (SQL/MySQL)
  • Familiarity with knowledgebase content and framework
  • Be able to modify and integrate ‘off the shelf’ software into an existing network to meet the needs of the business and customers
  • Managing, training and supervising additional tech support staff as necessary
  • Must be self-sufficient and able to react quickly in a highly dynamic environment with various development methodologies
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
