Job Description:
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main responsibilities include curating and analyzing Next-gen Sequencing (NGS) and publicly available genetic data, and supporting the clinical reporting team with variant classification.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in genomics, genetics, molecular biology, and biological pathways.
  • Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics/statistical software (eg. GATK, BCFtools, BLAST, BWA, PLINK, etc), and publicly available genetics databases (eg. ExAC, ESP, ClinVar, GenBank, Ensemble, KEGG, HGMD, OMIM, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Perl, Python, R, bash, C/C++, java, and/or SQL in Linux/Unix environment.
  • Strong skills in the application of statistical methods for analysis of genetic data.
  • Excellent time management as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively operate, communicate and influence decision making within cross-functional and multi-disciplinary clinical genetics team.
  • Must reside in the United States.
Minimum certifications/educational level:
  • MS in Bioinformatics, Bio-statistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistical Genetics or related discipline is required, PhD is a plus.
  • 3-5 years' professional experience in Bioinformatics or related field required
