Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptionally creative and motivated individual to join our Seattle-based team as a bioinformatics scientist who will design, refine and implement analytical methods that support diverse applications of our technology. This candidate will be challenged to meet a substantial breadth of computational needs in a young and rapidly growing genomics company and will be afforded significant autonomy in developing methods for achieving these. The position will primarily support the custom experimental design and analysis of data from studies related to oncology and other important areas of human health, using a diverse skill set in programming, genome sciences and statistical analysis. This individual will also interface with our assay development team to assist in building new analytical tools to facilitate biochemical optimization. In both roles, a creative mindset, proven abilities in a team environment, and excellent data presentation skills are a must.

You Will:

  • Assist with experimental design and planning with regard to anticipated data needs for external customers and internal development projects.
  • Manage analysis, interpretation and graphical representation of project data using a combination of our custom software and open source tools.
  • Generate and present data reports for team, partners and customers that translate complex ideas into relevant and intuitive explanations.
  • Anticipate and recognize informatics challenges and make recommendations for solutions and allocation of resources needed to meet goals.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant literature, attend national meetings and keep up on new genomics analysis techniques and approaches.
  • Work with collaborators and team to prepare conference abstracts, manuscripts and informatics aspects of grant and patent applications.
  • Assist with the interface between software engineers and R+D team help test, troubleshoot and improve experimental designs and yields.

  • Expert in at least one programming language.
  • Able to query relevant genomic variation and cancer genome databases.
  • Thorough in your code documentation and familiar with version control practices and tools.
  • Knowledgeable in statistical methods and their application to genomics.
  • Self-directed and takes on challenges, yet are comfortable asking for help when needed.
  • Strong in interpersonal skills and have a history of success working in cross-functional teams.
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with ambitious goals and timelines.
  • A person who understands our world and has at least 3 years of experience in bioinformatics, computational genomics or a related field.
a Highly Qualified Candidate Is:
  • A person with a record of scientific achievement (strong publication record, history of success in scientific grant writing, history of invited presentations and/or relevant patent filings).
  • Experienced in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry from previous roles.
  • Knowledgeable of cloud environments, containerization technologies, pipeline development and data fidelity and information security best-practices.
