Job Description:
Spend your day on things that matter. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of software developers, bioinformatics scientists, and molecular biologists in the exciting field of single-cell genomics and proteomics. She or he will develop, deploy, and support web applications for next-generation sequencing analysis pipelines. These complex pipelines are the tools that enable cutting edge research into areas like cancer profiling, cell therapy, and stem cell biology.

Success requires a firm grounding in software engineering, ability to work successfully in teams, and a strong focus on making our customers successful.

Job Description Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to cross-functional teams and work directly with scientists and engineers to understand computational and analytic needs. Ensure that insightful results are produced that help achieve departmental research goals. Develop web backend and APIs using a Python framework Construct and manage databases Develop, test, deploy, automate, and support NGS analysis pipelines Contribute to end user applications that support visualization and statistical analysis Troubleshoot problems, address issues, and answer questions from internal users, collaborators, and customers Deploy computationally efficient cloud-based technologies to maximize pipeline efficiency Ensure that good software engineering practices are followed in all development activities Interact with statisticians, data scientists, engineers and biologists to determine requirements and functionality

Required Skills:

Bachelor’s degree (Biology or Computer Science related) Advanced p ython programming Familiarity with web backend development frameworks (e.g. Flask, Django) Experience implementing NGS data analysis pipelines preferably in a production context Team-oriented Strong written and verbal communication Able to prioritize and deliver results with a high emphasis on quality, technical rigor, and attention to detail Preferred Skills Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and SQL language Experience with Linux, shell (e.g. Bash) scripting Experience with advanced RNA or protein expression data Experience with any of the following: Agile software development, git, AWS, Seven Bridges, Arvados, Matlab, Javascript, React-JS Primary Work Location USA CA - Menlo Park Additional Locations USA CA - San Jose Work Shift 1st Shift 8am-5pm (United States of America)
