The Position Genentech has an exciting new position in our Next Generation Sequencing lab. In this position, you will have the opportunity to help researchers analyze large data sets from Illumina and PacBio sequencing technologies to understand alterations in cancers and human genetic disorders. You will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of software tools and algorithms that support data analysis, data quality control, data sharing, software tool development, and implementation of existing algorithms. Candidates with experience in large-scale genomics data are strongly encouraged to apply. Who You Are Successful candidates will meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years OR Master’s degree plus 4 years experience in scientific software development, OR a PhD in bioinformatics or related discipline. Advanced degree is preferred.
- Experience in bioinformatics with strong software development skills.
- Experience with Java, SQL or similar programming languages.
- Experience with at least one of the following: Perl, Python or R.
- Prior LIMS experience is highly desired.
- Software Project Management experience is preferred.
