Job Description:
The Bioinformatics Specialist will join an internationally renowned laboratory to aid the research in the area of RNA biology. Will be part of a small but dedicated group of computational biologists whose overall responsibilities will be in the analysis of large RNA sequencing datasets and collaborating with biochemists for the primary purpose of curation of the human transcriptome including allelic variation. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining analysis pipelines for HTS data, development of backend sequence analysis tools, management and maintenance of local biological databases, and development of interfaces for databases and sequence analysis tools.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and educational emphasis in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or biology strongly preferred. Must be proficient in UNIX, Perl, Java, database operation and maintenance, tools for the analysis of high throughput sequencing data (Bowtie, BWA, TopHat and similar) and have several years of working experience in related fields. Knowledge of SQL, R, PHP, C, CGI web interface preferred. Knowledge of molecular biology and/or biochemistry a plus.
