Recruiter Linda Romano Job Description Bio-Reference Laboratories is the lab of choice for many in the Northeast. Serving the greater New York Metropolitan Area, and Now a Significant Presence on the West Coast in Campbell California as Well as Florida and Maryland. The Company offers routine clinical tests, including Pap smears, pregnancy tests, cholesterol checks, and blood cell counts. Through its GenPath business unit, it also performs more sophisticated "esoteric" testing in areas such cancer pathology and molecular diagnostics. It gets most of its orders (about 3.5 million per year) from doctors' offices, collecting specimens at about 50 patient centers scattered throughout its service area in New York and New Jersey.
Our laboratory service in the New York Metro area is our core business, but it has expanded beyond those geographical boundaries through acquisitions, particularly in the area of specialty testing.

A full-time position is available for an experienced Bio-Informaticist with a background in next generation sequence analysis and algorithm development in Cancer Cytogenomics and R&D laboratory at Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong computational background analyzing sequencing data to work with our next-gen sequencing team, to develop and utilize programs to collect, store, manage, analyze and report clinical sequencing data.Ideally you will have a Masters degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics with some wet lab exposure to molecular biology. However, we will also consider candidates with a Bachelor of Science degree in the aforementioned fields that has demonstrated strong programming skills and is highly independent. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with Linux/Unix operating systems and can submit jobs in a HPC cluster environment. Moreover, this person should also be able to create, manage, and query complex relational databases. Programming experience is required, with expertise in at least one of C/C++, Perl, Python. Wet lab working experience also highly desirable.Positive attributes include excellent organizational skills, a strong interest in learning, the ability to multi-task, patience, and an ability to work with others. Minimum of 1 year of Practical Experience Analyzing Next Generation Sequencing Data.
Work Experience with Linux, Perl, Python, SQL, PHP, Unix Shell Scripting, and Excel VBA.
Familiar with Bioinformatics Tools Such as Genome Browsers, Mutation Databases and Primer Design Programs.
Familiar with the Concepts of Molecular Biology and Genomics.
Experience Analyzing Array CGH or Next Generation Sequencing Data
Ability to Work Both Independently and in a Team Environment of a Rapidly Evolving Genomic Diagnostic Center.
Good Oral and Written Communication Skills.
Ability to Prioritize
Good Organizational Skills
