Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated, experienced individual to join the Thomas lab at the University of Southern California (http://bioinformatics.usc.edu/pdthomas), to develop the next generation of bioinformatics tools for gene function analysis and the Gene Ontology. Qualified individuals will have a B.S. degree in biological science, and at least 3 year of experience programming in PERL/python. Experience with SQL, database, system administration and/or JAVA is a plus. Candidates should be familiar with DNA or protein sequence analysis and should have a strong scientific background. Wet bench experience in molecular and cell biology, developmental biology, or biochemistry is highly recommended.

Bachelor’s degree Combined work experience and education as equivalent

3 years Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
Minimum Field of Expertise
Sound knowledge of programming and documentation procedures, programming methods, program flow charts and operator instructions. Knowledge of one or more appropriate computer languages. Competent to work independently on complex programming activities.
