Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated and talented full-time intern to join the Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology team. A successful candidate will thoughtfully apply bioinformatics methodologies to provide biological insights by analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data. In addition, this candidate will develop web-based enabling tools by curating and integrating multiple sources of -omics databases. Overall, this internship will provide valuable experiences in the application of bioinformatics to the drug discovery process. Responsibilities: -Mine and curate relevant genomics and transcriptomic data from publicly available databases -Analyze -omics (genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics) data and provide biological insights to project teams -Build internal databases using open-source relational database management system, such as MySQL Basic Qualifications: -Working towards a Master or PhD degree in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology. -Available for 10-12 weeks starting in summer 2017 for 40 hours per week Preferred Qualifications: -Knowledge of computer programming skills, such as C/C++/Java, Python/Perl and SQL, is highly desirable -Experience with programming R statistical software is required -Strong background in molecular biology and genetics -Must possess excellent oral and written skills, as well as superior organizational skills.
