NewLeaf Symbiotics is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Web and Database Developer position. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for design and implementation of web-based software targeted at bioinformatics and genomics related projects, including development of databases and visualization tools.
Primary duties will include implementation, support, and ongoing refinement of software, including web interfaces and databases for analysis of genomic sequences, integration of genotype and phenotype data, and data mining. The successful individual must enjoy working in a team setting, as well as demonstrate the ability to manage a variety of tasks and competing priorities. The candidate must demonstrate good recordkeeping and written and verbal communication skills, for collaboration with company scientists.
Demonstrated prior experience in web and database development is required and examples should be included in the application package. Experience with cloud-based services such as Amazon’s EC2 platform is strongly preferred. A background in bioinformatics, genomics, microbiology, and experience with common bioinformatics tools including BLAST, genome viewers, and genomics databases is preferred. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field.
