Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Boston-based employee who will be responsible for creating and leading a new set of bioinformatics and data science services offerings through the Scientist.com marketplace. The successful candidate will be expected to spend much of his or her first year working closely with a few key partners at research campuses in New Haven, CT, Lexington, MA, and Cambridge, MA. After the first year, the focus will include building out data science capabilities across the entire Scientist.com ecosystem of pharma, biotech, and academic partners. A significant part of the first year will entail working closely with a key biotech partner to find, qualify and on-board an initial set of global bioinformatics and data-sciences suppliers into the Scientist.com ecosystem. In the first year and beyond, primary responsibilities will include: • Review, optimize and fulfill bioinformatics, and data-science sourcing requests that span discovery, translational, clinical and regulatory domains. Interact directly with scientists to understand and refine their technical requirements. Carry out online background research as needed. • Attend data-science conferences. Identify innovative new data-science tools and make them available through the marketplace. • Continually identify, update, select, and integrate qualified bioinformatics and data-sciences partners. • Verify user and supplier compliance with any regulatory or internal procurement policies. Requirements: • MS or Ph.D. in Science (or equivalent work experience). • Self-starter capable of working independently. • Good troubleshooting and interpersonal skills. • Initial on-site requirements in the first year in New Haven, CT and various campuses in Massachusetts, transitioning to broader travel needs to other biotech and pharma sites in the Northeast Corridor.
Additional Info:
Often referred to as the ‘Amazon.com for medical research,' Scientist.com (formerly Assay Depot) is pioneering a new approach to pharmaceutical research. By simplifying the creation of complex experiments, we enable pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic researchers to “outsource everything but the genius”. This dramatically simplifies drug research, reduces costs and expands access to the latest cutting-edge tools and technologies.
