Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Systems Biologist to lead the BioModels project at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). The European Bioinformatics Institute provides cutting edge research and services for biomolecular data. In international collaboration, the Molecular Networks Team provides among others the Reactome database of curated human pathways (http://www.reactome.org), and the BioModels database of systems biology models (http://www.ebi.ac.uk/biomodels). We are recruiting a new project lead for the BioModels repository of computational models of biological processes. The BioModels Project Leader, who will have a strong background in both biology/biochemistry and mathematics/computer science, is expected to significantly contribute to the team strategy and ensure the day-to-day grant and staff management. You will contribute to project tracking and reporting, as well as grant writing. The Project Leader will coordinate and contribute to the BioModels analysis and curation of relevant literature. You will provide the biological expertise that underpins the development of automated analysis systems, and advise the development team in the scientific and user oriented design of BioModels software tools. You will work with EMBL-EBI internal and external collaborators, and define the BioModels outreach and training strategy. The role holder will contribute to the selection, training, and assessment of new BioModels team members. At EMBL-EBI, we help scientists realise the potential of ‘big data’ in biology by enabling them to exploit complex information to make discoveries that benefit mankind. Working for EMBL-EBI gives you an opportunity to apply your skills and energy for the greater good. As part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), we are a non-profit, intergovernmental organisation funded by 22 member states and two associate member states and proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We are located on the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK, and our 600 staff are engineers, technicians, scientists and other professionals from all over the world.
Additional Info:
Applications are welcome from all nationalities - visa information will be discussed in more depth with applicants selected for interview. EMBL-EBI is committed to achieving gender balance and strongly encourages applications from women, who are currently under-represented at all levels. Appointment will be based on merit alone. The initial contract is for a period of three years with the possibility of a fixed-term extension. Applications will close at 23:00 GMT on the date listed above.[Click Here to Access the Original Job Post]
