Job Description:
This position primarily involves performing statistical analyses across ongoing large-scale pyrosequencing microbiome data, immunology data and sociodemographic data across four institutions. This individual will independently and in collaboration with faculty to manage, analyze, and communicate large-scale biological data provided by collaborators and will help with the design of experiments, analysis and publication efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with researchers at JHU, National Institutes of Health, University of Toronto and George Washington University in analyzing data and contributing to the writing of manuscripts. The scientist will be committed to a common mission, a team effort, and collaborations across academia.

Consults with clinical and laboratory investigators to determine their needs with respect to analysis of high-throughput genomics data in collaboration with a member of the faculty. Carry out appropriate methodologic procedures for biologically informed, statistically driven analysis of high dimensional data.

Participates in regularly schedule meetings with study investigators and team. Prepares progress reports as needed. Maintain appropriate systems for database associated management.

Qualifications:

-Minimum of 1 year of related experience.

-Proficiency in SAS or STATA Experience in R desired Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience in high-dimensional data a plus.

-Masters degree required in biostatistics, bioinformatics, or related field. Significant coursework in epidemiology, statistics, computer science or programming.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
