Job Description:
Cask is seeking a Biostatistician to support the Department of Defense and Veterans Administration (VA) Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) with Bio-Statistical Support Services. The VCE focuses on studying and analyzing vision health issues from combat related injuries and incidents.

This position will support the Informatics and Information Management (I&IM) Section. The mission is to support clinicians conducting studies and analyses with data-centric subject matter expertise. The Biostatistician shall provide bio-statistical support to include routine and ad hoc support for various studies, research proposals and reports.

Position Description:

• Provide recommendations for the application of statistics to the analysis of ocular data.

• Confirm and validate with the data requestor the data set, format for data presentation, timeline(s) for completion of analysis; etc.

• Present the requested information to the government for review and approval.

• Identify the primary lead/investigator and establish communication processes to clarify, share, and present data.

• Submit a monthly report of bio statistical activities including but not limited to: requestor, organizational affiliation, purpose of the request, timeline for analysis, and estimated timeframe to complete the data analytics.

• Identify and develop standard operational procedures (SOP) to support the bio-statistical processes. Submit a list of proposed SOPs to the Government for review, concurrence, and to set priorities. SOPs will be amended and/or added based on lessons learned and data management processes.

• Submit analytical findings by documented and approved brief formats and presentation (face to face, video teleconference, phone, etc.). Review and confirm with the data requestor the format for brief, change processes, etc. and submit the final draft to the Government for review and approval according to Government schedule.

• Develop a Client approved format for presenting lessons learned at the completion of each bio-statistical project. The Government will define the type of bio-statistical project and parameters for completion at the time the project is proposed and/or assigned.

Position Requirements

• Applicant must be a U. S. Citizen

• M.S. /PHD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or related technical field.

• 4 to 8 years of experience in statistical data analysis, with an emphasis in ocular health or other medical field.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

• Proficiency with statistical tools such as SAS, R and Python.

• Track record of effective collaboration with in a cross-functional environment with people of diverse backgrounds.
