Job Description:
We are a fast growing company and seek professional individuals to join our diverse and talented team of employees. We are currently looking for someone highly skilled as a Biostatistician/Bioinformatics professional.

POSITION DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provide statistical and bioinformatics support: apply information technology to biological, medical, and health research.
  • Use computational and statistical tools to gather and analyze data in fields such as medical, population, biology, genetics, and pharmaceutical development.
  • Apply a full range of technical statistical and bioinformatics services in fields that may include medical, microbiology, virology, toxicology, organic and analytical chemistry, biostatistics, and managerial statistics.
  • Provide data management and analytics support.
  • Provide consultations on statistical design and data collection, and conduct a variety of bioinformatics work to include: data processing, analyzing and interpreting highthroughput biological and medical data with emphasis on nextgeneration sequencing (NGS) data, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, statistical data analysis, clinical data integration, statistical modeling, machine learning, metagenomics, ecology, phylogenetics, population genetics, evolutionary biology, data mining, advanced analysis method development, data structure and algorithm development, database development and maintenance, software and IT solutions.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge of advanced mathematics, statistics and statistical theory, concepts and principles, physiology, genetics, chemistry, biology, microbiology, computational biology and genomics to provide consultative and/or advisory services. Utilize statistical packages, such as, STATA, SAS, SPSS, CLC BIO Genomics Workbench for statistical analysis, mathematical modeling and output/report generation.
  • Utilize or develop highly specialized applications to support the integration of disparate data and systems, into a research database for downstream analysis. Data sources include, but not limited to, other networked military healthcare databases (CIS, CHCS/AHLTA, Eccentris, PACS, IMPAX, IRBnet), medical equipment, experimental and clinical data, and third party proprietary applications.
  • Develop innovative approaches to database programming methodologies or bioinformatics analysis that are well documented and protected against premature disclosure for potential patents and government copyrights for clinical studies and protocol development.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • The work requires specialized knowledge of advanced mathematics, statistics and statistical theory, concepts, and principles, physiology, genetics, chemistry, biology, microbiology, computational biology and genomics to provide consultative and/or advisory services. In addition, the work requires advanced data and database management, e.g. capability of collecting, organizing and analyzing large amounts of data, computer science skills, and software programing.
  • Ph.D. is required
  • Hands-on experience with Hypothesis Testing, Result Reporting and Graphic Generation, Post Hoc Analysis and Post Hoc Analysis Reporting, and Poster Creation and Manuscript Reviews.

Location: Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX

Status: full-time, on site, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, little to no travel anticipated

Date: anticipated start date March 2018, contingent upon contract award

Citizenship: must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder)

Clearance: must obtain a favorable National Agency Check (NAC) and criminal background check
