Job Description:
Dr. Alison Goate is seeking a full time Biostatistician to do cutting edge research in genetics of complex diseases (Alzheimer's Disease, Addiction). The successful candidate will participate in the statistical design and analysis of human genetic studies with an emphasis on next generation sequencing and genome-wide association studies.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide data management, computational and statistical support to principal investigators, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students
  • Programming experience in a Unix/Linux environment (Shell, R, Perl and/or Python, etc.) and computing experience in a cluster computing environment
  • Familiarity with software related to genetic data analyses (e.g., PLINK, R, SAS, IMPUTE2, BWA, GATK, PICARD, VCF/BCF-tools, SKAT, etc.) with the ability to perform analyses, interpret, and effectively communicate results
  • Data management skills for the implementation and maintenance of large genetics datasets collected for research purposes
  • Performs other related duties

What You'll Bring:

Education:

Master's degree in Bioinformatics/Genetic Epidemiology/ Math/Computer Science or related field. Experience with statistical analysis of genetic data (linkage, association, gene expression, Next-Generation Sequencing, CNV, etc.) and/or biomedical studies is highly desirable. The candidate should have experience in statistics and bioinformatics. Experience with genetics and genomics is highly preferable.

The candidate should also have a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently on multiple long term projects, an openness to work within a highly collaborative team, and the ability to present his/her work to others.

Experience:

3-5 years of biostatistics or related experience/experience in statistics and bioinformatics
