Job Description:
The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Business Informatics is looking for experienced IT professionals with strong communication and decision-making skills for the Office of Business Informatics Innovation Fellowship Program.

Innovation Fellowships are available in the Office of Business Informatics (OBI), the position requires that fellows perform work of an exceptional degree of difficulty across a wide range of topics at the convergence of technology, process, policy, and delivery. The incumbent leverages his/her experience deploying high quality, enterprise-wide platforms and services to lead major initiatives, consult on systems and policy proposals, and provide technical, policy, and programmatic guidance to government.

The selected participant will support the implementation, expansion and evaluation of the informatics quality platform by utilizing methods from the fields of computer science, decision science and operations research.

The participant will apply modern tools for decision analysis, and visualization of big data and data management solutions to analyze research and develop the application to FDA’s regulatory review processes.

Specialized experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade in the federal service which has demonstrated experience in IT project management, strong technical and interpersonal skills and experience in analyzing, reengineering and documenting complex business processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degrees in computer science, applied informatics / bioinformatics or operations research at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Demonstrated experience in IT project management, strong technical and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in analyzing, reengineering and documenting complex business processes
