Job Description:
A STAFF SCIENTIST position is available immediately in the lab of Dr. Andrea Bild (http://bildlab.org/; https://www.cityofhope.org/andrea-bild ) at the City of Hope Cancer Institute, CA in the field of cancer genomics. We are seeking researchers to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a creative and collaborative environment consisting of computational and lab biologists, as well as physicians, to develop computational approaches to understand the progression and metastasis of breast and ovarian cancers from unique clinical samples. We are funded as one of nine U54 NCI Cancer Systems Biology Consortium centers in the US, and have extensive collaborations across the country (https://www.cancer.gov/about-nci/organization/dcb/research-programs/csbc). The successful applicant will have experience in working with next generation sequencing data (e.g. somatic variants, gene expression, copy number) to dissect the molecular drivers of the disease. Experience with single cell analysis is a plus.

The Staff Scientist series is designed for career research professionals whose primary function is to support the research infrastructure and activities of the institution. Staff Scientists will bring special skills, knowledge and experience to research programs or institutional core laboratories. Individuals appointed as staff scientists will receive a one-year fixed-term contract.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • To join our group, we are looking for highly motivated individuals that have demonstrated scientific productivity, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to conduct independent research. We are interested in applicants with a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or comparable experience.
  • The Staff Scientist must possess, at a minimum, the U.S. equivalent bachelors or masters degree in an appropriate discipline, and will often have a Ph.D. or other doctoral level degree.
