ChemoinformaticianCyclica inc.Research and DevelopmentCanada-Ontario-Toronto Cyclica, an early-stage biotechnology company in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, centered around the use of predictive informatics in medicinal chemistry. The company specializes in the application of computational and bioinformatics methods to the analysis of large datasets of chemogenomic data, protein structures, and small molecule ligands. It integrates information on molecular interactions with genome-wide data on protein-protein interactions, and cellular pathways, as well as on genomic markers of drug sensitivity and toxicology. In building its core R&D team, Cyclica is seeking a scientist with expertise in the development and application of chemoinformatics methods. Working within a multidisciplinary group, the scientist will help develop new commercial technologies. This position requires a M.Sc. or Ph.D.  Also required are:  1) An understanding of chemical structure, and predictive computational methods, 2) Expertise in computer programming and/or scripting, 3) Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with scientists in other disciplines. Prior leadership experience of projects and/or people is considered an advantage. Working knowledge of Python is essential, while experience with additional programming is considered an asset. The successful applicant will: • Be highly motivated and self-driven. • Have expertise with structural biology. • Possess strong programming skills in Python • Hold an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a life sciences related discipline. • Have strong communication skills, both oral and written. Advantageous Experiences: • Prior experience in computer-aided drug discovery. • Prior experience with structural biology. • Strong evidence of algorithm and/or workflow design experience. • Experience coding in a team setting (i.e. version control, documentation). This position is open to experienced scientists as well as recent M.Sc. or Ph.D. graduates.
