Job Description:
The Clinical Biomedical Data Analyst will perform computational analyses of clinical and biomedical data with the aim of improving the prediction and diagnosis of heart and vascular diseases. Most projects will involve data extraction/cleaning/exploration followed by development and application of statistical and machine learning methods. The successful candidate will interact closely with Dr. Herman and other laboratory members, as well as collaborate with colleagues in the Penn Institute for Biomedical Informatics (IBI) and Penn Medicine Data Analytics Core (DAC). He or she will contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant applications, and will hopefully have the opportunity to present new tools and results at scientific meetings.

Qualifications:

*The minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of data analysis experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistics, Informatics or equivalent strongly preferred.

* Fluency in Python or R programming language required.

* Experience in linux development environment required.

* Experience with machine learning required.

* Experience with data science and statistical modeling a plus.

* Experience with databases and SQL a plus.

* Experience with linux and high-performance computing a plus.

* Experience with clinical or biomedical data a plus.

* Ability to work with a software development team using formal software development methods.

* Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment.

* Excellent organizational and time management skills.

* Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
